A TEENAGE GENIUS

Ivan mirsky was born in Russia but now lives in America with his father, Vadim. They live in a one room flat in brooklyn. Ivan doesn’t go to school and his father doesn’t have a job. They practice chess problem all day, every day. Ivan was different from a very young age: he could ride a bike when he was eighteen months old, and read before he was two. He could play card at three and piano at four. When he was twelve, he was yhe under-20 chess champion in Rusia. His father can’t speak English and can’t play chesss either. Ivan translates for him. Vadim says, ‘ I know that I can’t play chess, but I can still help Ivan. We don’t like playing sports or watching TV. We live for chess.

Ivan Mirsky lahir di Rusia tetapi sekarang tinggal di Amerika dengan ayahnya, Vadim. Mereka tinggal di sebuah kamar salah satu flat di brooklyn. Ivan tidak pergi ke sekolah dan ayahnya tidak punya pekerjaan. Mereka berlatih catur masalah sepanjang hari, setiap hari. Ivan berbeda dari usia yang sangat muda: dia bisa naik sepeda ketika ia berusia delapan belas bulan, dan membaca sebelum ia berusia dua tahun. Dia bisa memainkan kartu pada tiga dan piano di empat. Ketika ia berusia dua belas, ia yhe U-20 juara catur di Rusia. Ayahnya tidak bisa berbahasa Inggris dan tidak bisa bermain chesss baik. Ivan diterjemahkan untuknya. Vadim berkata, 'Saya tahu bahwa saya tidak bisa bermain catur, tapi aku masih bisa membantu Ivan. Kami tidak suka bermain olahraga atau menonton TV. Kita hidup untuk catur.
